Unmarked example in worn but good condition.
The Danziger Kreuz was instituted on 31 August 1939 by Gauleiter Albert Forster, head of state of the Free City of Danzig, and awarded for his services to the establishment of the Nazi Party in the Gau Danzig and the National Socialist State of Danzig, as well as for the defence of Danzig before 31 August 1939. The design was by State Set Designer Benno von Arent. The award ceremony took place mainly on the traditional holiday of the National Socialists of Danzig, 24 October 1939. As a state award, the Danziger Kreuz was equal to the awards of other German states since 1 May 1941.
