US, Helmet 28th Inf.Div. British made

 295,00

Helmet for enlisted men of the 28th Infantry Division (formed from the Pennsylvania Army National Guard).

The helmet is decorated with the Division emblem on the front and further painted by the veteran on his way home.

The 28th ID fought heavily during WW1 in France and Belgium (Champagne, Meuse-Argonnen, Yper).

This helmet is a British example (Brodie) of which 300,000 pieces were issued when the Americans landed in France, as the troops did not yet have their own helmets when they left the USA.

The helmet is stamped on the inside with a manufacturer’s stamp (Brodie) and the wearer’s initials.

Nice piece of history !
