US M1917 tunic 37th ID , 1918

M1917 tunic for a corporal of the 37th Infantry Division.

Provided on the left sleeve with the Division emblem (“Buckeye”) a red overseas stripe and a gold chevron for 6 months overseas service.

On the right sleeve the double chevrons indicating that he is a corporal and a gold chevron indicating that he was once wounded or gassed.

US collardisc and on the other side an Infantry collardisc.

 

The tunic is in good condition with 1 visible moth hole on the back, see photo.

The label on the inside is clearly legible and dated 1918, see photo.

 

The 37th was active in the war from 1918 and fought hard in France at the Meuse-Argonne sector and in Belgium at the Ypres-Leie offensive.
